HOME GADGETS EVERYONE MUST HAVE

A smart speaker or a smartphone. What gadgets have you got at home? We are here to inform you of some lesser known gadgets that are worth pimping out your home with. Covering everything from home security to data storage, put these on your shopping list the next you work through your home electronics budget.

NAS

A network attached drive or NAS is a box housing a couple of hard drives connecting to your router. Either through Wi-Fi or ethernet cable. That means that transfer speeds are faster when using a network attached drive. It also means you can get your data from anywhere in the world wide web or another computer. As a bonus they can automatically create backup copies of entire disks too.
You could make your lifetime of crucial academic work or your family photo album or your iTunes music library available to every device on your home network. And even have access to these files when you’re away from home.  Nas drive comes with a software to help your setup and secure access. And they also function with other third-party software’s such as plex or drobox for serving up multimedia content all around the home.
A Nas drive is an investment that will last for a long time but it can easily get expensive. Due to the cost of the hard drives and all the extra smarts built in.
Document scanner
A document scanner is boring and one dull way of spending a couple hundred dollars of your hard-earned cash but it’s very practical. In just a few minutes you can free up all the old cabinets in your house by scanning the documents and saving it in a digitized folder or cloud locker.
You can use your phones camera or a flatbed scanner to digitize paper documents but a dedicated document scanner is much easier and quicker. It can scan both sides of multiple papers in an instance and save them in a standard format. An app with OCR (optical character recognition) capabilities like google drive can make all your dusty files become instantly searchable.

Mesh Wi-Fi routers

A standard Wi-Fi router can pump out precious wireless connection in your home, but what if only one router is not enough. To fix the blitzing dead zones and blanket your entire home you should consider a whole network of them dotted around your home.
The main reason of having a Mesh Wi-Fi router is having the entire house covered with wireless internet coverage.  There are advantages too including cool management software’s you can run on your computer and advanced traffic management to give extra bandwidth to the devices you want.
Mesh Wi-Fi networks aren’t for everyone and every scenario but it can make a real difference in your internet connection coverage.

Laptop or monitor riser

A laptop riser is a device that lifts your entire laptop or monitor to a level where you can see it. If you’ve got your laptop desktop or computer set up at home, chances are that you are bending over for too many hours a day. Through some customization and tweaking depending on the type of computer you have and the desk. The purpose is to have a setup that enables you to sit up right with a straight neck and back, looking directly ahead.

UPS (uninterruptible power supply)

The primary function of a UPS is to keep your computers, Wi-Fi router and other gadgets on and running in the case of power cut.  Especially in Africa where we have erratic power supply, you might have a dozen unsaved files open. Or if you are in the middle of an important OS update you will be glad you invested in one of these boxes.
Your UPS will protect your device and keep it safe from power surges. It is made up of a massive battery that gives you an extra availability of power. UPS boxes can be quite expensive but the price depends on the power output and how many devices you are saving from harm.
The higher the wattage and volt-amps the larger the battery. If you need to power a router, a big desktop, and a NAS. And still have power for your phone then you need a bigger UPS.

In an interview with  Fox News Sunday  ( spotted by  On MSFT ), Gates reveals he’s now using an Android phone. While Gates doesn’t reveal the exact model, he does note that it has “a lot of Microsoft software” on it, which could suggest it’s a special  Microsoft Edition Samsung Galaxy S8 handset  with bundled software.
